Bougainvillea Lodge
Situated in the Karatu area of the Ngorongoro Highlands area, this lodge is an ideal place to stop on your way to or from the Serengeti. Set back from the main road in the middle of town, the lodge does not seem noisy or busy. Owned by the ex head chef of Gibbs Farm, the food here is very good.
The accommodation consists of stone bungalows set amidst the landscaped gardens. They have twin or kingsize beds with mosquito nets, a fireplace for those colder nights, and are simply furnished. Each room has en suite facilities with a flushing toilet. The spacious veranda is an ideal place to sit, relax and enjoy the nicely tended gardens. Family rooms are also available here as are triple rooms.
The excellent food is served in the dining room and the bar offers a good selection of drinks, both soft and alcoholic. There is also a small banda available for groups or private meetings.
The swimming pool is a recent addition and there is plenty of seating around the gardens for when the sun is shining. There is also a small curio shop and internet access available at a small fee.
