Eunoto Lodge
Eunoto is located about 20kms off the main tarmac road, heading towards Mto wa Mbu on the right, nestled into the side of the rift escarpment.
Eunoto goes up and down food wise (literally – there are 110 steps between the kitchen and the dining area). The outlook is terrific and the beds are sumptuous, the swimming pool now refurbished.
There are 30 large rondavel style rooms, nestled into the rift wall. Each room has a veranda to the front with a view to the small lake below. Behind each bed there is a wall with his and hers sinks, shower and separate flushing loo and 24 hour hot and cold running water. The beds really are the most comfortable I think I have slept in.
The lodge is staffed entirely by local Maasai, they are very proud of their lodge and, if you want to stay somewhere that is a bit different on your way to or from the highlands, it is a great option.
It is also great if you are visiting Lake Manyara. My advice would be to spend a couple of nights here as you can go for walks up the rift, biking and visit various Masaai projects.
