Marangu Hotel

Standing in 12 acres of mature gardens on the slope of Mount Kilimanjaro, the Marangu Hotel (meaning ‘full of water’) offers fabulous views of this magnificent peak.  From the gardens you can see views of the larger ice capped Kibo and rocky Mawenzi.

The main hotel building was once a farm house built in the early 1900’s and it retains its old world style. The guest rooms are set in cottages in the grounds; they vary in style, with some having integral sitting rooms, but all have en suite facilities.

Meals are served using vegetables from the hotels own garden and the bread is all home baked. There is a comfortable lounge and bar for guests to relax in.

For the more energetic, the hotel has a swimming pool and a croquet lawn. There are also walks to be taken through the surrounding coffee and banana farms and you can also stroll in the mature garden which is full of exotic trees and flowering shrubs. It is also possible to visit the nearby local market.
