Mwagusi Tented Camp
Mwagusi Tented Camp is a small exclusive tented camp overlooking a popular watering hole in the riverbed of the Mwagusi Sand River. The camp is very rustic in feel.
The 14 bandas are spacious and are built with a larger thatch and reed roof. This gives each banda an open sided veranda at the front and an ensuite bathroom, with flush toilet and hot shower at the back. Whilst there is electricity for lighting there are no power points. Each banda looks out over the river and are furnished in a traditional African style. You can spend some relaxing time here, watching the world go by from your comfortable chairs.
The main lounge and dining area is situated in an open sided tent giving wonderful views out over the Mwagusi River. The natural pools of this river attract much game, even when the river is fairly dry. There is a camp fire in front of this main tent where guests can relax and swop animal stories late into the evening.
Game drives are undertaken in open sided 4 x 4 vehicles. All the major game can be sighted here and it’s a paradise for bird watchers. Early morning bird walks and bush walks organised with a park ranger, lasting 3 – 4 hours can be arranged.
The food here is quite an experience, with a traditional breakfast served with the addition of the famous Mwagusi cinnamon rolls. It is also possible to enjoy a bush breakfast following an early morning game drive if you prefer. Lunch is a light meal of salad and cold meat whilst dinner is a more formal affair, often being served in a different location each evening.
