Ruaha River Lodge

Situated on the edge of the river, the Ruaha River Lodge is a relaxed and friendly lodge.
Built around a rocky outcrop, it is ideally situated for guests to view the game that come to drink at the waters edge. It is a perfect choice for those guests wanting a relaxed place to stay at a reasonable price. 

 The management of the River Lodge welcome children of all ages.

The 28 banda rooms are built from local stone and have thatched (makuti) roofs.  Each one is situated along the banks of theRuaha Riverand is a good size. Each banda has an ensuite bathroom with a flush toilet, a sitting area and a large veranda.  This place is ideal for sitting and watching the game come to drink at the waters edge, particularly when water is scarce in the dry weather.

Situated under one large roof are the lounge and dining areas. The open sides offer great views out across the river and the leather furniture and antelope horns hark back to Tanzania’s colonial past.  This is a great place to relax and enjoy an after dinner drink and watch the world go by.

There is also another lounge area built on an outcrop offering spectacular views. Both of these lounge areas are built with local stone and reeds.

The food at Ruaha River Lodge is both tasty and wholesome. Breakfast consists of  juice, rolls and a cooked breakfast whilst lunch is salads, pastas and cold meats. Dinner has 3 courses with most normally a soup, meat or fish followed by ice cream or fruit.

There is plenty to do at Ruaha River Lodge. Game drives take place in 4 x 4 vehicles during both the morning and the afternoon. If you prefer you can take a packed lunch and then set out for the whole day without having to come back for lunch!
