Shooting Star Lodge

Shooting Star Lodge is a small relaxed family run hotel situated on the eastern coast of Zanzibar, set in a stunning location amid mature tropical gardens.

It is a small hotel, with just 14 rooms set in traditional style bungalows which are all lime washed with makuti roofs. All rooms have high beamed ceilings and traditional wooden furniture. There are 2 categories of room types; Seaview and Lodge rooms. The seaview rooms are large, with mosquito nets and air-conditioning. 4 of the seaview rooms are set on 2 levels and are ideal for families, with a bedroom on each level and a ceiling fan on the upper level only. The Lodge rooms have a garden view, are simply furnished and do not have air-conditioning.

There is an open-air restaurant offering stunning views of the ocean whilst you dine on both local and international cuisine. Lobster, meat grills and smoked fish are a speciality whilst vegetarians are well catered for here.

A salt water infinity pool is a feature at the hotel, set above sea level so you can enjoy a swim whilst overlooking the coastline of Zanzibar. Bicycle hire is also available locally as are a variety of water sports such as scuba diving, snorkelling, fishing, boat trips and wind surfing.

The hotel is in an excellent position for exploring the local village of Kiwengwa. Here you can shop for trinkets, carvings and bright cotton sarongs at the local bazaar. If you would like to venture a little further afield, there are visits to Zanzibar Town, Spice tours and sunset cruises all available locally.
