Tanzania Safari Ideas

The very idea of a Tanzania Safari conjures up all sorts of magical thoughts. We understand that for most a safari is a once in a lifetime adventure evoking great excitement and expectation.

Tanzania can be divided into three main game viewing areas:

Northern Tanzania Safari - the northern parks include: Arusha National Park, Serengeti National Park,Lake Manyara National Park, Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area.

Southern Tanzania Safari - the southern parks include: Selous Game Reserve, Ruaha National Park, Saadani National Park, Mikumi, Udzungwa.

Western Tanzania Safari - the western parks include: Katavi National Park, Mahale National Park, Gombe National Park.

Tanzania also boasts the snow-capped peak of Africa's highest mountain - Kilimanjaro, and the second largest freshwater lake in the world - Lake Victoria. The world’s deepest lake – Lake Tanganyika (Mahale National Park) is also in Tanzania.

Planning a Tanzania Safari

In brief, we don’t have set departure dates, nor do we buy into group safaris. We tailor the trip to suit you.  As long at there is a flight and accommodation, we can book a Tanzania Safari for you at any time of year.

There is not really a bad time to visit Tanzania, just a different time. We suggest that you avoid the main rainy season in April and May, however, if you don’t mind a bit of wet then some areas of the Ngorogoro Crater and Serengeti can look beautiful even in the rain.  We love this time of year and call it the "Green Season".  Flights are a lot cheaper too – worth considering!

Walking and Trekking

Most of you will have heard of Kilimanjaro, but how about Meru or the Udzungwa and Uluguru Mountains or Kitulo Plateau, Mufindi Highlands or Lushoto. We have a lot of walking and climbing experience in Tanzania – we can offer you treks off the beaten track, short day hikes and the opportunity to reach Africa’s highest summit in safety.

Family Safaris

Tanzania throws its doors open to families. The Tanzanians love children - often from large families themselves, they have endless patience and a great sense of fun. The whole family can enjoy activities and many lodges and hotels offer family rooms. Meal times can be specially arranged. Kids can explore tracks, dress up as maasai, visit a local school or family and see lots of very exciting animals. Just ask us and we will be able to advise the best locations and places to stay for families. Click here for an example of a Tanzania Family Safari in Southern Tanzania.

Honeymoons, Wedding Ideas and Inspiration

Tanzania has a unique collection of very distinctive lodges and hotels where you can spend your special time. You can sleep under the African stars, stay on a deserted island, climb into a tree house or lie in a hammock. We have lots of Honeymoon Ideas for you to consider.

You can walk with Maasai around Ngorongoro Crater and enjoy a cold Kili (beer) in Stone Town, Zanzibar. You can choose a safari in a four wheel vehicle, a foot safari, safari by horseback, boat and even hot air balloon.

You can see chimps in Mahale Mountains, roan and sable antelope in Ruaha National Park, flamingos on Lake Manyara, the mighty migration in the greater Serengeti eco system and a plethora of crocodiles and hippo in the Rufiji River.

Add to this excellent road and air links to reach each location and other parts of Africa makes Tanzania a safari destination hard to beat!
