Beho Beho Tented Camp

If you can afford it then Beho Beho Tented Camp is the place to stay in Selous. Although not located along the banks of the river, it is still in a prime location in the Beho Beho’s mountains.

There are just eight stone built and palm thatched cottages, the spacious suites are open sided with an enormous double bed engulfed in mosquito net with ceiling fan above it.

Every room at Beho Beho Tented Camp has the most stunning picture framed open front with views straight down to the plains dotted with baobab trees.

There is a lounge area close to the front with sofa and table and best of all a telescope. There is also a writing desk (for those finding inspiration).

The bathroom is located behind the main room from here you go through a large dressing room with ample space to hang your clothes. In the main bathroom there is a his and hers sink and to the side a flush loo. From here a large stone shower area. The base is made of carefully selected river pebbles (as I was reminded by George)!!. The roof is partly open so you can shower under the stars. The shower is magnificent and together with the intoxicating combination of stars and sweet smelling products a shower becomes a pleasurable event.

All the bungalows are a very discreet distance apart so totally private. A stone pathway connects the main areas to each room and the swimming pool and sundeck.

The lounge and dining areas together with the cocktail bar and ‘billiards room’ provide a sophisticated setting for post safari relaxation, whilst the swimming pool and deck offers an idea place to cool off.

Beho Beho Tented Camp is a luxurious lodge where you would want for nothing.

The service is superb the food is just out of this world and for us the guiding is just excellent. Onesmo recently promoted to walking guide and Salum, both Tanzanian’s, compliment an already highly experienced bush guiding and hosting team Sacha and Tam now lead the management and hosting team at Beho Beho.

Safaris are either on foot, by open sided vehicle or by boat, Whether it is a 10 km walk followed by breakfast in the bush, or an evening safari drive ending with sundowners at an escarpment viewpoint, a Beho Beho experience offers plenty of wonderful memories that will last you a lifetime. (Well, until the next time at least).
