Grumeti River Camp

Situated in the western corridor of the Serengeti, about 30 miles from the confluence of the Grumeti River with Lake Victoria, Grumeti River Camp is a luxury tented camp. Overlooking a bywater of the Grumeti River where once a year the migrating Wildebeest run the gauntlet of the hungry crocodiles, the camp is ideally situated to view this amazing sight.

Grumeti River Camp has 10 tents fitted out in a luxurious style with local sculptured furnishing and generously sized beds and each has a fan to keep the tent cool. The en suite facilities include open air showers and flush toilets. Each tent has a view of the bush beyond and has a rugged thatched canopy proving some shade.

Meals at Grumeti River Camp are served either in the open air Boma or on the open fronted area that overlooks the river. There is plunge pool for guests use and a small library for those quiet moments. The main areas of the camp are decorated in local materials and bright modern designs, creating a very distinctive look.

The area around the Grumeti River supports a lush riverine forest, different to the majority of the Serengeti which is plains based. There is plenty of wildlife making this area their home year round including topi, giraffe and buffalo. It is also possible to visit both the central and northern areas of the Serengeti from here.
