Kigelia Camp

Located on the banks of the Ifuguru Sand River in Ruaha National Park, Kigelia Camp is a small and exclusive camp set in a grove of sausage trees near to the Mwagusi and Great Ruaha Rivers.

The camp owners are very aware of the fragile ecosystem surrounding much of Ruaha and the camp genuinely blends into the ecosystem allowing you to immerse yourselves in the natural surroundings as much as possible.

Kigelia Camp is reached by light aircraft into the Msembe airstrip, followed by a 20 km game drive to the camp. Game drives are conducted in open sided vehicles and the guides at Kigelia are well trained and very professional.

The camp consists of 6 double tents which are each furnished with locally crafted beds. The ensuite bathrooms have flushing toilets and open air showers. An authentic bush camp in a pristine wilderness with no compromise on standard and home comforts.

The main camp area is a large pavilion tent which houses the dining area and well stocked library. A bush breakfast can be taken in the main tent or by the river whilst lunch can be taken in the main dining area or as a picnic on longer safari days.

Sundowners are served by the open fire and if the weather is good then dinner will be served outside under the stars! There are also tables and chairs for relaxing in before or after dinner.

All meals are prepared using fresh produce; vegetarian options are also catered for here at Kigelia.

Activities at Kigelia Camp take the form of game viewing, both by vehicle and on foot in order to see the wide variety of animals and birds that make this area of Ruaha their home. You decide what and when you want to do!

Children over the age of 6 are welcome at Kigelia and a wide variety of activities are on offer for the younger generation.
