There are just six tents at Kigelia Tented Camp. These are light and airy and furnished with locally crafted pale wood furniture. The tents have solar lighting, wide verandas and an open-air en suite bathroom with a hot safari-style bucket shower and a flush loo.
Food at the camp is tasty – simple but satisfying meals that can be enjoyed in the cosy dining tent or under the stars. Enjoy bush breakfasts in the open to the sound of wildlife and sundowners as you relax around the camp-fire as you reflect on your day.
Ruaha is a remote park, few camps are located in this area. It is famous for its stunning scenery including ancient baobab trees and its fabulous game, particularly cats, herds of elephant and greater and lesser kudu. There is also a rich birdlife in this region.
Game drives in open 4WD vehicles and walking safaris are possible here. June to September a time characterised by warm days and cool nights is the best time of year for walking safaris. From October to November the weather is hot and dry and game congregate around the inland lakes. From December to March the weather starts to get humid, with possibility of rain. This is a good time to view the diverse bird life and many animals will be calving.
