Lemala Mara Camp

Lemala Mara is a seasonal camp open from June to October. It is set under large Euclea trees close to the Mara River. Here in this immense wilderness guests can enjoy fabulous landscapes and terrific game viewing with practically no crowds. The resident wildlife numbers are exceptionally high, but nothing compared to when the migration arrives!

The Lemala Mara Camp has superb location, ensuring guests will be amongst the vast herds of migrating wildebeest and zebra. Two of the largest crossing points on the river are nearby.

The best time to stay at Lemala Mara is between September and November.

The spectacular Lamai triangle, Wogakuria kopjes and Kogatende airstrip are all easily accessible from the camp.

The camp has 9 spacious, luxury tents (accommodating 18 to 22 guests) each fitted with 2 double beds or one king size leather bed, warm duvets, flush toilet, large safari shower, running water, wooden cabinets and flooring, 24-hour solar lighting, outside lounger, games table and much more.

The mess tent at comprises of separate living and dining areas with a central bar, all beautifully decorated. In the evening guests can gather around the campfire for sundowners before a dinner under chandeliers hosted by the camp manager.

Lemala Mara’s naturalists/guides have exceptional local knowledge, enabling them to take guests to where the action is in open 4×4 vehicles, away from the crowds. The vehicles are specially designed for long game drives and are equipped with comfortable seating, charging units and a large refrigerator. The camp organises great picnic breakfasts and lunches for those who would like to go on full day game drives.

We also enjoyed very much our stay at Lemala, maybe even more than at the other 2. It was amazing to be located within the park. The tent was very comfortable. We don’t think a tent can be much more comfortable than this.

The “talking shower” was surprising and it will be something funny to remember. The food was exceptionally good, we were amazed to find such good meals in such a remote place.

We were pleasantly surprised to find a bottle of Prosecco in the room when we arrived. We also enjoyed the cake and the celebration the staff did for Anne-Lise’s birthday.

It was a good thing to have drinks included and to be able to enjoy them around the bond fire that was set every day before dinner. It was also nice to have dinner at the same table as all the other guests.
