Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp consists of sixteen luxuriously dressed tents, each of which have two queen beds with large shower and toilet, his and hers sinks with the normal selection of bathroom goodies as well anti biting gels. Each room has 24-hour electricity, constant hot water and a dressing area. The beds are draped with large mosquito nets giving the feel of a four-poster double. The veranda is also furnished with a double sun bed.
The dining tent, reached by a stairway from the rear of the lounge, has its own shaded terrace for optional outdoor dining while the cuisine blends the traditional camp fare of flame-roasted meats with salads, fresh garden produce, piquant fish dishes and luscious desserts. The views over the sun-blazed plains are wonderful.
Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp radiates out from the central lounge. A place of light and air, the lounge’s terrace is a massive ledge of natural stone, its views stretch to eternity and its décor blends the gnarled timbers of ancient dhows with champagne suede, claret chenille and amber weaves.Aptly named, Mbuzi Mawe is Swahili for Klipspringer and there are always a few of these sweet fellows jumping about on the rocks.
The main lounge area also has Internet facilities and there is a small boutique shop selling batteries, sun tan creams and lots of nic naks.
