Mdonya Old River Camp has just 11 walk-in style tents, each of which are large, spacious and have ensuite facilities with a flushing toilet. Whilst there is no electricity in the tents, there are plenty of candles and a torch is available for use, adding to that authentic safari feel!
Each tent has a veranda with deck chairs in which to relax and listen to the sounds of the wildlife. The lounge area has a natural feel and is furnished with comfortable sofas and chairs. Outside it is the open campfire where guests can enjoy a drink after dinner.
The dining area is set in a ‘mess’ tent style, with long tables which can be moved outside so that guests can dine under the stars should they wish.
The camp has a cleverly constructed hide set at each end of the camp where you can sit and watch the world go by. As the camp is set in a corridor route there is a high possibility of animals passing by at all times of the day.
Game drives at Mdonya are taken in 4 x 4 vehicles. It is also possible to do short walking safaris from this camp as well.
The food at Mdonya has been heavily influenced by the various cultures in Tanzania. Breakfast consists of pancakes, fruit and cooked food whilst lunch is normally salads and pasta. Dinner is a casual affair, good and tasty simple food.
