With just five comfortable and well appointed bungalows and one larger family bungalow, Pemba Lodge offers you ultimate privacy and serenity.
Despite its remoteness, guests are treated to all the essential luxuries: rainwater showers, big, comfortable beds with mosquito nets, solar powered lighting, wholesome and tasty Swahili fusion meals, a well-stocked bar, warm and personal service – and all of that amidst a stunning, unspoilt environment.
At Pemba Lodge, the favorite activity is relaxing and doing nothing! However, there are quite a few more for you to enjoy around the lodge and the island; they are designed to get you as close as possible to Shamiani’s natural treasures without disturbing them.
For instance, you could take a kayak out for a paddle trip around the island and through the mangrove creeks.
The staff will be delighted to accompany you on a reef walk at low tide and explain everything you want to know about the marine ecosystem around the island which is teeming with life.
There are bush trails criss- crossing the island that will take you up close and personal with the abundant flora and fauna.
Snorkeling equipment is available to use, complimentary, for boat trips to nearby reefs.
You can also try your hand in both traditional line fishing or deep sea fishing (and have your catch prepared for a delicious barbeque dinner).
Pemba’s spectacular reefs are rated among the world’s top dive sites. Whether you are an experienced scuba diver or just want to try it for the first time, Pemba Lodge are happy to make arrangements for you with reputable dive companies on the main island of Pemba.
Bird watching, sunrise and sunset watching and stargazing in the night sky are also popular and fulfilling pastimes at Pemba Lodge.
And last but not least, treat yourself to a Swahili massage with natural oils, get a henna tattoo or have your hair braided African style; it all can be arranged with the ladies from the village.
