Sable Mountain Lodge has 13 rooms in total, of which 8 are basic stone bandas and 5 are tented bandas. These are spread across the hilly site. Both room types are simply furnished. Each banda has mosquito nets and an en suite bathroom but are very simple and basic. However, there are wonderful views over the forest from the private veranda. There is no air conditioning or fans in any of the bandas. You will need to charge your batteries for cameras etc at reception.
2 of the tents are honeymoon tents which are larger and have open fronts, outside showers and slightly better views. It can be quite a walk to get to the rooms but this ensures privacy for you in your room.
Although one camp, it is large and well spread out and therefore has 2 separate dining and bar areas. One is perched on a hill near the swimming pool for the tented bandas and the other is set at the lower end of the camp and caters for the stone bandas.
Sable Mountain Lodge has a terrace offering fantastic views of the surrounding hills and the path used by the passing animals. There is also a snug where you can spend some time gazing at the stars and a tree house from which you can view the waterhole and any visiting animals.
Safaris are done by 4 x 4 vehicles and by foot and can take the form of morning and afternoon game drives or a full day excursion with a picnic lunch.
