Sand Rivers Tented Camp

Sand Rivers is a small camp set on a rocky peninsula overlooking the magnificent sweep of the Rufiji River. This river is the lifeblood of the untamed Selous wilderness and is the largest waterway in East Africa.

The exposed sandbanks of the camp are home to hippo, crocodile and fascinating birdlife.

Sand Rivers Tented Camp consists of 8 large and airy stone and thatched cottages. Each cottage is open fronted with a wide veranda set on stilts affording a stunning view across the river. The cottages are set in pairs along the river bank. Each has a four poster bed and spacious en suite facilities with flush toilets and solar heated hot water.

Sand Rivers Tented Camp has a central dining area which has been designed using local wood and stone. It overlooks the bar and swimming pool which is set into the rocks on the rivers edge. This area is shaded by ancient baobab trees thought to be more than 1500 years old. There are armchairs and sofas dotted around the area for relaxing in and the nearby bar has a small library.
