Serian Serengeti South

Serian Serengeti South is located in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area on the edge of the short grass plains. From December to April this area is inundated with with a million or more wildebeest – an amazing spectacle.

Walking safaris are a speciality here and you can also experience some of the ancient Hadzabe tribe’s culture.

Serian Serengeti South is a traditional tented camp which is open from December until April. It has just 8 stylishly decorated, roomy tents with large comfortable beds. Each tent has an ensuite bathroom with flushing toilet and hot showers available on request.

There is a comfortable communal area with lounge, bar, dining area and a small library. The food is locally sourced, where possible, and of a high quality. Tasty dishes are served in the dining area or outdoors.

The camp is run by Alex Walker who has spent a lifetime in the African bush and is extremely knowledgeable about the area. Alex encourages his guests to spend as much time as they can in the bush. A private vehicle with both a driver and a spotter for each group is included in the price.

Activities at Serian Serengeti South include game drives, bush picnics and sundowners. But what makes this camp really stand out are the walking safaris, fly-camping and cultural visits, none of which other camps in the south can offer.

Walking is a speciality here and is done along the shores Lake Eyasi, a seasonal salt lake located near to the camp. Fly-camping offers you a chance to spend a night or two under the stars, a really exciting experience. Cultural visits can be arranged so you can experience some traditional African culture – but this is not a tourist village, the Hadzabe are the last traditional hunter gatherer tribe in Africa.

You will not go short of activities and experiences at Serian!
